Rim
Banna’s songs
most of which she herself composes, demonstrates a special musical and
singing style, which is her very own. Rim’s
songs are inspired by the Palestinian people’s conscience and
sentiments, from their culture, their history and their folklore. She brings it forth from the desert
rhythm in the south, from the long lived song of the sea that
spread all over the Palestinian sea shore, from the inspiration of the
charming nature and its colors from the meadows and plains, from the
returning echo that roams between mountains and valleys, from the
sounds of The Ancient Canaanite Hymns, which accompanied streams of
sweet waters in its swing among rocks and over small white stones, from
the chirping of the sparrows and the garden nightingales, who never
emigrate, such as the blessed olive tree, the resisting cactus on the
borders of the orchards, and the holy grape tree that spread all over the
hills of the Palestinian land. |

also
presents the modern Palestinian Arabic song, which has been
received with enthusiasm from the Arab world and the International
community. Her songs are categorized as a post modern and highly
appreciated Arabic song that promises a bright future for the Arabic song
in The Arab World and at the international level. This relates to the
song, its tunes and music,
and performance.
Rim
Banna
and Leonid Alexeienko share the construction
of the final theme of their lines and their creative musical and singing
arrangement which belong exclusively to them. The
poems
are written by the famous Palestinian Poets: Mahmoud Darwish,
Tawfik Zayyad,
Samih
El-Qasem, Zuhaira Sabbagh and
others, as well as songs written by Rim Banna
herself. The

which she herself wrote the words and the tunes. These songs have been
warmly applauded by children in Children’s

(April’s Blossoms Festival) in Ramallah, “Bethlehem Summer Festival”
in
Bethlehem,

& “Ramadan Festivals”
(Lesser Bairam) in different Palestinian towns and
villages,

lyrics of
the children

inspired by rural and urban Palestinian environment. Part of it
arises from
the Palestinian culture and folklore like her famous song “New
Moon” (Amar
Abu Leili). Dealing
with the folklore Rim Banna and Leonid Alexeienko performs the Palestinian folk songs in a modern musical arrangement without tampering with the authenticity of the tune and the beauty of the lyrics. Rim Banna also gives tunes to the seasonal poetic themes from the folklore, like the songs of the rain and also the children playing themes, which she and Leonid have given a modern style tune, inspired by their style and conducted by the popular Palestinian folk and the old Arabic music, and by the inspiration of the soul of the music of the people in the Universe, for the sake of the continuation of the song for the next generation, by keeping the grand heritage of the popular culture and the original popular art, which is linked to the roots of the people reinforcing their national identity. Palestinian
Lullabies
(Craddle
Songs) Rim
Banna
is best known by her singing of lullabies which come from the Palestinian
folklore. She is the only one that uniquely performs this type of songs
that is attached to her name and accompanies her in almost all her
concerts. The
lullaby that was once imprisoned
in the bedroom and close to the child’s cradle became a song to be sung on
the stage in local and International Festivals. Rim Banna initiated
its presentation to the audience and is still the only one to perform
it.
